Oh my god, where did you come from?
Hello hello then. If you got your hands on one of these printed issues, you should definitely celebrate a little as a limited number were printed. Like, 15 or something. The rest of y’all reading this digitally - you should still celebrate. Celebrations rock.
Alright, what the hell is this?
This is Desertscrub, a magazine about cycling in the desert. That’s it.
From fixies to gravel bikes, road bikes to vintage ATBs - every bicycle is welcome in this publication. The first few issues will be my first person perspective on things, but the hope is this will grow to have interviews, guest writers, guest photographers, and all sorts of awesome shit about the cycling community in the Arizona desert.
Not to mention lots of photos of cool bikes. Hell yeah.
What does “Desertscrub” mean?
It’s a nature term - “‘Desertscrub’ is a general term that includes several desert plant communities occurring usually at elevations below 3,500 feet. These are the areas of hot summers, mild winters, and low (9 inches or less) and irregular rainfall.” - source: U.S. Forest Service.
Much like those little plant communities - the cyclists of the desert brave the hot summers, low rainfall, and abundant sunshine. We band together with well anchored roots here in the valleys and mountains.
Welcome to this little publication about cycling in the desert. I’m glad you’re here.
